Covid-19 Postpones Jury Trials in Texas - Supreme Court Order

Covid-19 Postpones Jury Trials

Due to Covid-19 (Coronavirus), the Texas Supreme Court has issued an order dated June 29, 2020 suspending jury trials in Texas until after August 31, 2020. In paragraph 6 of the order it states, "A court must not hold a jury proceeding, including jury selection or a jury trial, prior to September 1 (2020), except as authorized by this order." Read the complete order below.

Harris County, Texas Justice of the Peace Courts and the City of Houston Municipal Courts have suspended all jury trial settings until after August 31, 2020 in compliance with the Texas Supreme Court's response to Covid-19.

Note to all clients of Houston Traffic Ticket Lawyer Kameron Searle: When our clients' cases are reset by the courts and the courts re-open, we will notify you by letter of your new court date. Some cases have already been reset several times by the courts as trial settings have been pushed further and further into the future in response to Covid-19/Coronavirus.

Be sure to contact us if your mailing address or telephone number changes. We are currently mailing notice letters for court dates already set in September and October of 2020. If you have not received a notice letter, your court has not advised us of your new court date yet.

If the Texas Supreme Court issues another order pushing the date for jury trials further out again, you will be notified by our office.
